Before this trip, I’d never travelled alone, so I was a bit nervous about meeting new people. However, right from the start, everyone was talking, and pretty soon it felt like I’d known everyone for years.
One of my favourite memories from this trip came from after a day of service. While walking back to the bus, we found a giant branch, and as we waited for the bus, we all played limbo. Our leaders put on carnival music, and everyone joined in, and it was a great time. Corny? Probably. But it was great.

These programs are designed for students ages 14 to 18. Students ages 12 or 13 can choose from the middle school programs, and 14-year-olds can compare both, subject to each program’s age range.
No. Students do not need previous travel experience to join a high school program. Program Leaders supervise students throughout the program.
The 2027 high school programs run for 6 to 23 days. Nine programs run for 8 or 9 days, and Thailand: Come With Nothing is the longest at 23 days.
Program Tuition for the 2027 high school programs starts at $1,995, and 28 of the 29 programs are under $7,000. Each program also has a separate, one-time non-refundable enrollment fee, starting at $100, and flights to and from the program are separate.
No. Flights to and from the program are not included. Flights within an itinerary are included where the program page lists them, such as the Japan-to-South Korea flight on Japan & Korea: Tokyo to Seoul.
Many do. 16 of the 29 programs list a service-hour total, from 8 to 60 hours. Students receive a certificate of participation and a service-hour record, typically within 30 days of completing the program.
