Student travel country FAQ

Are Rustic Pathways programs available in Europe?

Yes. Rustic Pathways offers student programs in seven European destinations: Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, the Balkans, and Germany. Iceland trips run for school groups only. Activities include sea turtle conservation in Kefalonia, beach cleanups and eco-snorkeling in Lisbon and Barcelona, and cooking lessons in northern Italy.

Do you offer programs in multiple countries?

Yes. Rustic Pathways offers multi-country programs that let students explore two countries in one program. 2027 routes include Japan to South Korea, Portugal and Spain, Italy and Greece, and China and Singapore.

What ages can participate in Rustic Pathways programs?

Most programs are for ages 14 to 18. Some destinations also offer programs for middle school students ages 12 to 13 and college or gap year travelers ages 18 to 22. Age requirements vary by country and program, so check each program’s eligibility details before applying.

Where does Rustic Pathways operate educational travel programs?

Rustic Pathways operates educational travel programs in 38 countries across six continents. Programs span four regions: the Americas (12 countries), Asia-Pacific (14), Africa (4), and Europe (8). Student programs operate in 31 countries, while six countries offer school-group trips only. No trips currently go to Myanmar.

Rustic Pathways has operated student travel since 1983, when the business was founded in Mornington, Victoria, Australia.

Program Tuition covers Program Leader supervision of students, and Rustic Pathways Program Leaders are housed on site and available overnight. Rustic Pathways maintains a median of one staff member per 4.37 students (4.37:1), with no program exceeding 7 students per staff member (7:1), on Student Travel programs.
