Germany & Austria: Alpine Adventure

Gute Reise means “safe travels” and we hope today’s travels are smooth as you embark on this adventure!
Meet your Rustic Pathways Flight Leader at the gateway airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). They will help get you checked in and through security before traveling with your group to Germany. You’ll use this day to travel and arrive tomorrow in Munich!

Land at Munich International Airport and meet your program leaders for the week! We’ll head to our accommodations before setting out to explore the Bavarian capital. The next two days you’ll get to visit the Marianplatz, Viktualienmarkt, BMW Museum, Englischer Garten, and Olympic Park.

Today we head south to Berchtesgaden, deep in Bavaria in southeastern Germany. Nestled beautifully in the middle of the Alps, this will serve as our base for the rest of the program. The next two days will be packed full of activities including white water rafting, visiting the famous Konigsee (a beautiful alpine lake), and hiking among the beautiful mountains.

Today we’ll have music on our minds – we’ll visit Mozart’s birthplace and the setting of the Sound of Music! We will spend the day in Salzburg, Austria seeing Mirabelle Gardens, Hohensalzburg Fortress, and walking along the Salzach River.

Back in the Bavarian Alps we will spend our final day canyoneering. Jumping, sliding, and rapelling down mountain waterfalls will leave a lasting impression. After we dry off we will grab some lunch and then in the evening set off for a sunset hike to take in our final day together.

Today we will wake up and travel back to Munich to catch your flight head back home or on to your next adventure!
