Exploring Panama

There’s a lot more to Panama than its famous canal. The Central American nation is known for its beautiful beaches and bird watching opportunities, with nearly 1000 bird species in the country. It has mountains, rainforests and about 1500 islands. Panama, as a narrow land bridge country, also has a spot where you can see both the sun rise on the Pacific Ocean and set over the Atlantic Ocean. That’s at the highest point in Panama – Volcan Baru, which is the nation’s only volcano.

Visitors to Panama often spend time exploring the capital of Panama City, a modern metropolitan center that’s home to nearly two million people. Among the highlights is the  historic center of Casco Viejo that was established in the late 1600s by the Spanish.
