Beyond the six starting itineraries

These are the UK school trips Rustic Pathways can build now.

Each is a starting point for school trips to the UK shaped around one department’s goals. History trips, cultural trips and geography trips all start from the same six routes.

Each of these educational tours adapts to your regions, goals, activity level, support needs and dates.

These UK school tours can be shortened, extended or combined, and new stops need local operations approval.

Day numbers run from arrival in the United Kingdom to departure. A group flying overnight from North America leaves the day before Day 1.

How much does a school trip to the United Kingdom cost?

A school trip to the United Kingdom costs $2,260 to $3,995 per student for program tuition, or roughly $377 to $499 per day.

What tuition covers

Lodging, meals, airport transfers, in-country transport, scheduled activities, guides, and entrance fees. Schools receive 1 complimentary tuition place per 8 paying students.

What tuition excludes

International airfare, insurance, and personal spending.

What sets your final price

The range assumes 10 or more students in shared rooms. Every route is quoted to your school’s dates, group size, itinerary, and lodging.

How to get a quote

Send your dates, group size, and curriculum priorities. Route options with current pricing come back within 48 hours.

What changes the price?

Build the United Kingdom around your department

Choose English and literature, drama, history, science or mathematics. Each route carries an essential question your department can build the unit around.

  • English and Literature

Trace English writing from Shakespeare’s Stratford to the Oxford of the Inklings and the Cambridge of the poets, on Island of Words.

Essential question: How does a writer turn a real place into an imagined one?

  • History

Read the island’s story off the buildings: medieval York, Coventry’s ruined cathedral beside its replacement, and Windsor, on British Heritage.

Essential question: How does a country decide which parts of its past to rebuild?

  • STEM and Design Technology

Handle primary scientific objects, from the blackboard Einstein wrote on in Oxford to the rebuilt Colossus at Bletchley Park, on Cipher and Stars.

Essential question: What has to be true of a machine before it can keep a secret?

Safety planning for London, the university towns and Scotland

Route planning

These are urban routes. The written route plan sets headcount points at every crowded attraction, a rendezvous at each site, and platform procedure for rail transfers. Venue entry is booked to timed slots, and every day carries a wet-weather alternative.

Hill days

Arthur’s Seat and Mam Tor are assessed on the morning for group fitness, footwear, visibility, and wind. Either is replaced rather than pushed.

Staffing

The school sets the group size, starting at 10 students. Every school group travels with at least 2 trained Program Leaders, 1 male and 1 female, in addition to the school’s own teachers or chaperones.

Medical training

100% of Program Leaders hold current CPR and First Aid certification. Wilderness First Responder certification is required where definitive medical care is more than an hour away. Staff completed Viristar’s month-long Risk Management for Outdoor Programs course.

School documentation

A certificate of insurance naming your school as additional insured, a W-9, and peer-school references are available on request.
