Quick Teen Travel Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost?

Programs start at $2,495 and include 24/7 supervision, all meals, activities and insurance. Chaperoned flights to the destination city are available.

What is the accommodation like?

Clean, comfortable, and safe. Most programs have modern facilities, though cultural immersion homestays may have local-style bathrooms. Ask your coordinator for specific program details.

How old are the students on student travel programs?

The students are 12 to 22, middle school, high school, and college. No program has all the students at the same time. Each program caters to a specific age group to match interests, activities and abilities.

Can my kid go with a friend or sibling?

Yes! Just let us know during enrollment, and we’ll arrange for them to be in the same program group and room. You’ll even get a friends and family discount.

What is the gender breakdown of teen tour programs?

Most programs are near 50/50, but it’s never exact. The gender ratio varies by program and destination and even by week. Contact us for details about the specific teen tour program you’re interested in.

What if my child has never traveled without me?

That’s most of our students! We specialize in first-time travel for teens. Your child will be matched with others their age, make friends quickly during orientation, and have 24/7 support from trained leaders. Over 70% of our students travel solo and return with lifelong friendships.

Do students have 24/7 supervision?

Yes, 24/7 supervision with a 6:1 student-to-leader ratio. This keeps groups nice and small so we can give everyone good attention. During free time, like when we visit local markets, students can explore in small groups, and our staff are posted at specific spots.

We set clear meeting times and locations, so students always know where to find us.

All our leaders are trained in first aid and safety, so your child is in good hands the whole time. It’s a great balance; students get to have fun and explore while we make sure everyone stays safe.

Who are the staff on the program? What training do they have?

Our leaders come from different backgrounds and different countries, but they all share something special: they are passionate about education. Many have teaching backgrounds. We put them through first aid and safety training, and we practice group dynamics.

On each program, we have a split of international staff and local staff. That way, students get the best of both worlds.

How do the flights work?

The program price does not include your kid’s flight to get there, but once they arrive, any flights during the program are included.

There are two choices: your child can fly with our group or fly on their own.

If they fly with our group, first get to our hub airport. We handle everything if flights get delayed or cancelled. Students make friends on the flight, and we have Rustic group leaders accompany the students from the ticket counter, through security, to the boarding area, on the flight, through baggage claim, through customs, and then all the way to meet our ground transport in the destination country.

If students fly on their own, they can fly from any airport on any route that works best for you. Your child can come a day early or stay a day late for an additional charge.

We will let you know where to meet our team at the airport. There will be a group of 15 excited students in Rustic Pathways t-shirts!
