Take the Climate Leaders Fellowship beyond your own community and gather in person with fellow CLF alums in Colorado! This program is built exclusively for Climate Leaders Fellowship alumni and will explore the question: “What can I learn from other leaders doing work related to climate so that I can improve my own ability to make positive change in the world?”

Your CLF Summit will be based at a 750-acre retreat center in the Colorado Front Range where you can step away from the clamor of everyday life to have a chance to meaningfully connect with your fellow alums and staff. You’ll spend time teambuilding with fellow participants by hiking in nature and experiencing a high ropes course. You’ll also make a presentation of your CLF project and collaborate with CLF leaders from around the world. Along the way, you’ll get to connect with leaders in Denver and Boulder to see firsthand examples of community-driven efforts to combat local climate issues, and engage in a meaningful service project.

You’ll return home energized with deeper friendships and more ideas of how you can have a positive impact in your community while continuing to develop your sense of purpose and leadership skills!

This program is exclusively for alumni of the Climate Leaders Fellowship who have earned their Certificate of Completion.

Accommodations

The CLF Summit will be headquartered at a rustic 750 acre outdoor retreat facility exclusive to the Rustic Pathways CLF group. We will have two dormitories, one for boys and one for girls, each with bunk beds and a shared bathroom. Since we will be out in nature, you should expect basic amenities. The facility will also have many shared outdoor and communal spaces for group activities.

The property is a 90 minute drive west of Denver International Airport, near Jamestown in the beautiful Colorado Front Range.

Service Projects

Each student will provide about 10 hours of community service while on the program. The service will focus on learning about how individuals and organizations can have impact on issues related to climate (such as reducing food waste, creating urban gardens, recycling, or implementing a comprehensive school-district climate action strategy), and doing hands-on volunteering with a local non-profit partner.

Food

Most of the student’s meals will be prepared on site at our Outdoor Education Center. For some outings, lunches will be packed. Food will be nourishing but basic (think healthy camping food), and students will have the opportunity to prepare/customize some of their meals (such as choosing ingredients and making their own sandwiches).

Keep in mind that this is a recommendation and you should factor in your personal preferences and habits when it comes to items like socks, underwear, etc. Sun protection will also be important!

Most importantly, each student will need to be able to carry their luggage. Throughout the program, you will be moving your bag through the airport, loading and unloading from the cars, up and down stairs, and short distances across uneven terrain.

Travel light. Pack only the essentials. You’ll need less than you think!

Consider no checked bag. We strongly recommend that you consider packing only a carry-on-size bag. This prevents your luggage from getting lost or separated from you, keeps your bag manageable, and helps you be more mobile on your travel day.

Bring the right clothes. Pack clothes that are acceptable for service projects. This includes appropriate footwear (closed-toe sneakers).

Leave your valuables behind. While traveling, it’s easier for things to get lost, stolen, or damaged. Keep any prized possessions safe at home.

Check with TSA. Make sure your luggage complies with TSA regulations, especially your carry-on. Useful tip: Pack an empty water bottle and fill it up after security.

Extra paperwork? If you need additional forms filled out to get credit for your service hours, no problem! Bring these forms with you so they can be completed in-country.
