01 tortoise

“As a photographer guide for the You, A ‘Roo, and Australia Zoo program, every day was a little bit different as we volunteered and explored behind the scenes at Steve Irwin’s famous Australia Zoo. Here, students were scrubbing a friendly tortoise that was over 80 years old as he chewed on a blade of grass.”

02 croc

“This photo was from an amazing crocodile show at the zoo – the crew members and staff were so friendly and knowledgeable to work with!”

03 cleaning

“Daily group tasks at the zoo varied from everything to preparing food, feeding the animals, and walking wombats! In this photo, students were cleaning the elephant pens.”

04 koala

“Koalas are pretty synonymous with Australia, and one of the days we got to cuddle with some for a portrait session!”

05 iguana

“This iguana was chilling on a rock one afternoon – I loved how many different types of unique species exist in the Land Down Under.”

06 kangaroo

“Kangaroos are so friendly! We fed and petted them daily; a great thing about working at the Australia Zoo was how interactive and passionate they are about animal conservation and education.”

07 brisbane

“A photo I stitched together of a day and night view from our hostel in Brisbane. Cool city!”

08 hike

“I captured this image as we began a sunset hike – gorgeous views and a great workout!”

09 sunset

“I waited for the group to finish hiking to the top of the mountain to get this different perspective of everyone watching the sun go down.”

10 campfire

“One of our last nights, we had a camp fire and observed the Milky Way. Australia definitely has some of the brightest stars I’ve ever seen.”

11 surfer

“Near the end of the trip, I hopped on to the Awesome Aussie Service Adventure, and got this shot of a surfer before hitting the water on the Sunshine Coast.”
