Grace’s Best Decision: Surf and Service in Costa Rica

Hi, my name is Grace Prouty and last summer I went on the Costa Rica Surf and Service trip with Rustic Pathways. This trip was one of the best decisions I’ve made. There was so much to enjoy and soak in as the days went by.

What Grace Took Home: New Things and Lifelong Friends

I learned so much from the people I met and my amazing leaders Josh and Isa, who encouraged all of us to try new things and step out of our comfort zones! I also made lifelong friends who made this trip even more enjoyable.

I can’t thank my Program Leaders enough for making this trip amazing. These memories will last a lifetime!

Grace describes the lifelong friends and the push to try new things. The memories concern the June 2025 session, and Grace first shared them on the Rustic Pathways Instagram account on January 2, 2026.

The program still runs as Costa Rica: Surf and Service. It runs 8 days for students ages 14–18, with five days of surf lessons in Nosara, Guanacaste, on the Pacific coast and about 12 hours of beach and community service with the Clean Wave Foundation. See the program page for the current itinerary, dates and activities.
