Desire to Positively Impact the Lives of Others (DTPILO)

Desire to Positively Impact the Lives of Others, abbreviated DTPILO, is a Rustic Pathways Student Learning Outcome describing a student’s motivation to contribute positively to other people and communities. DTPILO gives a specific name to an intended developmental outcome and allows Rustic Pathways to evaluate change without reducing impact to volunteer hours alone.

Use it for: Learning design, research, impact evaluation, and discussion of students’ prosocial motivation.
