Who Can Join Rustic Pathways Programs?

How Students Travel From Outside the U.S.
Students located outside the U.S have flexible options for reaching their program destination. You don’t need to route through the United States; fly directly from your home country to meet your group.
Option 1: Book Your Own (most common for international students)
You book your own flights straight from your home airport to the program country, and arrive inside the arrival window we give you. There is no fee for this option. Our enrollment team provides:
- Specific airport, date, and arrival window
- Airport pickup and transfer to your program location
- Clear communication protocols so you are never waiting alone
- Emergency contact numbers active from the moment you land
Option 2: Independent Flights With Rustic Pathways Support
Our travel team books and manages your flights for you, and you travel on your own rather than with a chaperoned group. This is a paid service, listed at checkout as Independent, and it is useful when you would rather not coordinate a long-haul itinerary yourself.
Option 3: Chaperoned Group Flight
Students fly together from a U.S. gateway city (typically New York, Los Angeles, or Miami) with a Rustic Pathways Flight Leader who stays with the group through security, the flight, immigration, and customs. This is a paid add-on, listed at checkout as Chaperoned, and it works well when you are visiting family in the U.S. first or want extra support through connections.
International families are not required to use a U.S. gateway. Flying direct from your home country is both allowed and the most common choice. Your advisor will help you pick the right option, and current prices for each are shown on every program page and at checkout.
Arrival and Departure Windows
Each program has a four-hour arrival window and a four-hour departure window. Landing or departing inside your window is included in the program. Arriving early or leaving late falls outside it, which means extra chaperone and transport time and an out-of-window service fee. That service is automatic for unaccompanied minors, since Rustic Pathways takes custody on landing. Current fee amounts are in our enrollment terms.

Popular Programs for International Students
Several programs, particularly those based in Asia, Latin America, and the Pacific, have higher proportions of non-U.S. participants, in part because of major international airports in their host cities.
Rustic Pathways data shows that these programs often include participants from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania.
Asia
Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Tokyo, Seoul, Shenzhen, and Singapore are global crossroads, with easy connections from Australia, the Gulf, and across Asia-Pacific.
