Student Travel Programs in China

Rustic’s programs in China expose students to the wonders of this fascinating country. We’ve built partnerships with schools, non-governmental organizations, and conservation groups since opening China operations in 2007. Students venture from the big cities to explore, learn, and conduct service. They interact with members of our partner communities and leave with a better understanding of and appreciation for China and its culture.

I’m always excited to see my home country though our students’ eyes and amazed by how much they change throughout their programs. They leave saying they’re going to introduce what they learned to their families. These moments make me proud. I feel like our students expand their view of the world in a way that defines Rustic Pathways. — Kevin Wang, China Country Manager

Quote by: Originally from the village of Minqin, Gansu, China, Kevin joined Rustic as a Program Leader in 2012 before becoming Country Manager. Kevin is a China history expert and loves to share his passion for his country with everyone he meets. He’s also been known to start a conga line during a traditional Chinese hot pot feast.

Amanda Cortes

China and Mongolia Country Director

Raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Amanda credits working in Switzerland and Colombia to kindling her love for travel, education, and cultural exchange. After graduating from Boston College’s history program, she led international groups on camping-based adventure tours across all of the “Lower 48” states, Canada and Alaska, eventually returning indoors to train leaders and manage operations. Amanda is thrilled to bring her six years of industry know-how, lifelong love of travel and zeal for cultivating authentic, enriching, and memorable experiences to Rustic Pathways’ Mongolia program as Country Director.
