Spain: Southern Spain History and Culture is a 15-day customizable school group trip to Spain, where students explore the Andalusian cities of Seville, Córdoba, and Granada, visit the Alhambra palace, and see a live flamenco show. Students begin in Seville, where they walk its neighborhoods, parks, plazas, and historic monuments and cook with fresh produce from the local market. A day in Córdoba shows the region’s Moorish architecture before two days in Granada at landmarks like the Alhambra. The trip ends on the coast with beach days, fresh seafood, art museums, and trips to coastal villages. This Spain school trip covers history, culture, and food across southern Spain.

Explore Seville

Welcome to Seville! Seville is a visually stunning city, filled with vibrant colors and intricate architecture. The historic center of the city is filled with narrow winding streets. The sounds of flamenco music and the aroma of delicious local cuisine fill the streets, while the colorful buildings and orange trees add the city’s visual charm. While in Seville, you will get to participate in truly unforgettable experiences, such as: Wander the alleys and squares of the historic city center. Visit the Seville Cathedral, Giralda Tower, and the Alcázar of Seville. Enjoy tapas in a local restaurant. Explore the neighborhoods of Triana and Santa Cruz. Visit the Plaza de España and the Maria Luisa Park. Visit an open air market with locals where you can learn how to pick the best produce then join them in their home for your first cooking class! Day Trip to Córdoba

Córdoba is known for its rich history and cultural heritage, with landmarks such as the Mezquita, a magnificent mosque-cathedral that is one of the most iconic structures in Spain. The city features charming neighborhoods and whitewashed buildings that reflect its Moorish past. Explore the unique cultural blend that Córdoba has to offer through the following activities: Visit the Mezquita-Cathedral. Stroll through the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos: This palace and fortress was built in the 14th century and saved as a residence for Spanish monarchs. Explore the historic center: Córdoba’s historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage site. What Do School Organizers Ask?

How do flights work?

School groups can arrange their own flights, or Rustic Pathways can arrange them as an optional add-on. In either case, teachers fly with students, and Rustic Pathways coordinates airport pickup and handles all in-country logistics.

What's included in the price?

Included: Lodging, all meals, in-country transport, all activities, 24/7 staff. Not included: International airfare, medical insurance (required), travel insurance (optional), personal spending ($150–200).

Is travel insurance required?

Travel insurance is not included in the program tuition. Rustic Pathways recommends that families purchase travel insurance. Get a quote from our recommended provider →

Who supervises the students?

Rustic Pathways Program Leaders complete a four-month vetting process, and programs maintain a median of one staff member per 4.37 students (4.37:1), with no program exceeding 7 students per staff member (7:1). All Program Leaders are first-aid certified, and every program includes at least one leader with 3 or more years of field experience. Program Leaders range in age from 22 to 45.

Are rooms gender-separated?

Yes. Students room with same-gender peers. Staff stay in adjacent rooms.

What about medical emergencies?

All Program Leaders are first-aid certified. Nearest hospitals are mapped out in all locations. Our health & safety team reviews all medical forms before departure and works with families to plan medications, allergies, and dietary needs.

Can students contact home?

Yes. Rustic Pathways’ policy is that students can call, text, or WhatsApp anytime. Rustic Pathways is happy to defer to established school policies instead.

How do families stay informed?

Rustic Pathways sends daily photo updates throughout the program.

How big is the group?

Can friends room together?

Yes. Rustic Pathways provides a room list prior to travel. Schools can assign rooming allocations or allow students to choose their roommates.

Will students have unsupervised time?

Structured independence with staff nearby. No unsupervised time in public areas.

Can Rustic Pathways accommodate food allergies? 

Yes. Dietary needs are collected during enrollment and shared with all meal providers.

How much spending money should students have?

$150–200 recommended. Tipping is included, no extra cash needed.
