Germany & Austria: Winter Ski and Snow

The program starts with a stay in a centrally located Munich hotel, offering comfortable, gender-separated rooms. For the rest of the program, students stay at a cozy guesthouse in Bad Reichenhall, exclusive to the group. Rooms have bunk beds, are separated by gender, and bathrooms are shared. The guesthouse has communal spaces for group activities and is conveniently located for exploring the Alps.

This program includes a variety of winter activities such as skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and archery. Participants should be prepared for full days of activity outdoors in winter conditions. A moderate to high level of physical fitness is recommended, especially for skiing and snowshoeing.

All meals are included throughout the program. Students will enjoy a mix of Bavarian and international dishes, including traditional meals at local restaurants and Bavarian specialties in alpine huts. The guesthouse also provides group meals.

Expect true winter conditions! In late December through January, temperatures in Munich and the Bavarian Alps typically range from lows around 20°F (-6°C) to highs around 40°F (4°C). Snow is common in the Alps, and students should pack warm, waterproof layers, including thermal underwear, snow pants, and a winter coat. Be prepared for both cold and snowy weather as well as occasional milder days in the city.

Personal gifts, internet, phone calls, and snacks are not included. All other costs (accommodation, meals, in-country transportation, and activities) are included in the program price.

We recommend $150 per week to cover souvenirs and incidentals. We highly encourage students to change money to local currency prior to their departure date. Any money that needs to be changed back is best done in the airport on the return home.
