Travel Info: Japan

Rustic Pathways offers escorted group flights from the United States to Tokyo, Japan (NRT). Students leaving from the United States may either depart on one of our chaperoned group flights from a gateway airport (see pricing below) or may choose to arrange their own airfare to their destination country with our Self-Managed Airfare. Students on chaperoned group flights are responsible for arranging their own domestic travel to our gateway city.

In 2024, our gateway airport will be Los Angeles (LAX).

Students joining our programs from outside the United States are responsible for arranging their own travel to their destination. You will be provided with specific arrival and departure time windows. Arriving or departing outside these windows will incur special transportation arrangements and fees. Students may alternatively choose to join one of our chaperoned group flights departing from one of our United States gateway airports in which case they would be responsible for arriving to and departing from that gateway airport. Please reach out to your Personal Travel Advisor to confirm specific arrival and departure airports and times.

International Airfare
Students departing from outside North America are responsible for making all their own airfare arrangements. Some programs may have additional internal airfare costs. Please reference the program page for details.

Visa Information

Travelers from the United States do not need a visa to enter Japan.

Students traveling with Rustic Pathways on passports not issued by the United States are responsible for determining their own visa requirements. Please check with the appropriate consulate or embassy.

Travelers should complete their Visit Japan Web application before arrival to speed up their customs and immigration on arrival. You can complete the application with your passport, airline ticket info, and mailing address. If you travel on the chaperoned flight, your airport team will help you complete it if you haven’t done so yet.
