What have your own travels entailed?

Like many others, the pandemic put a big delay in many of my travel plans in 2020. So I set off to explore the western parts of America. Salt Lake City became my base and I traveled each weekend to a new amazing location hitting several National Parks along the way.

Now that the world is opening up I have had the opportunity to travel to Mexico, Australia with Rustic Pathways, and am currently living in Italy, with my sights set to see much of Europe.

What makes you proud to work at Rustic Pathways?

I am proud to work for a company and with individuals that share the same passion and values. I have been able to witness the positive impact our programs make on the individuals that partake as well as the communities we visit.

There is nothing more rewarding than hearing the stories from students once they are back home about how amazing of a time they had while in another county.

Why do you view travel as an essential part of every education?

Travel should be done by every individual, I think the earlier you start the better.

Travel opens your mind to new experiences, pushes you outside your comfort zone, and makes you think deeper about the world around you. Not only do you learn about other cultures throughout the experiences, you truly end up learning more about your own self as well.

What has been one of your favorite moments at Rustic Pathways?

My favorite moment so far at Rustic was being on a program with a group of students in the Outback of Australia and watching them see the Milky Way for the first time.

For many students from a big city, they had never seen stars that bright let alone the Milky Way. Hearing them be in complete awe was super awesome to witness.
