Coronavirus Updates

Updated: April 3, 2020

At Rustic Pathways, we believe in the power of travel to bring people together and positively impact communities and lives around the world. With the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) declared a global pandemic, we cannot help but think of the 200 service projects, hundreds of small businesses, and thousands of lives our programs would have normally impacted this year. We want to share more about what we are doing:

Staying Informed & Healthy

Our first priority has always been to provide unparalleled educational travel opportunities to our students in a healthy and safe way. We have been closely monitoring the spread of coronavirus, and engaging daily with medical professionals and information from the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, and International SOS. It’s normal to feel anxious about new risks when information is still developing. We encourage you to reduce that anxiety by balancing media coverage with expert sources of information such as those listed above and following the recommendations of your local health authorities.

No matter where you live, and whether you are traveling or not, it’s worth repeating the WHO’s advice for protecting yourself and others:

  • wash your hands frequently with soap and/or alcohol-based sanitizers
  • avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • cover your mouth or nose when you sneeze or cough
  • avoid others who are coughing or sneezing
  • maintain distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing
  • if you have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing yourself, seek medical attention

Helping Our Travelers

Our goal in these times is to respond swiftly and proportionally to expert advice while supporting our clients’ plans. For those already enrolled for travel this year, many are choosing to stay at home, or are not permitted to travel due to decisions outside of their control. We understand and support their decisions. We are working with families to create flexible options that offer security and protect the value of their purchase. Our team is working around the clock to provide everyone the support they need.

Looking Forward

We know that these are uncertain times. At Rustic Pathways, one thing we know is that for the global community, travel is a force for good. We encourage you to utilize the resources above as you consider travel plans. Whenever you are ready to travel, please know that we are ready to serve you.

Please call us at 800-321-4353 (within the USA) and +1 440-975-9691 (internationally) to speak with someone should you have any questions.

As chaperones, we really appreciated their sense of calm and professionalism in corresponding with the main office and keeping us updated on the evolving travel situation with COVID-19. All in all, they demonstrated advanced knowledge of the community we served, taught the students to travel with intention and mindfulness, and really acted as great role models of what it means to be a global citizen and conscious traveler. We sincerely appreciate all that Rustic Pathways did to make that such a wonderful experience for us and our students.
