Mongolia Country Manager

Anya Buyanerdene - Mongolia Country Manager I started working for Rustic Pathways as a local interpreter in 2013 and started to fall in love with all the variety of things I got to be part of, as I have partake in more and more trips with Rustic. So, I have become full time at Rustic Pathways as Mongolia Country Manager in 2017 and have become more and more proud to be part of this responsible educational travel family.

I have gotten to be working alongside some of the most respectful, caring, well educated and well travelled, mindful yet adventurous people from many different countries. I was not only provided very comprehensive training, but also was given opportunities to learn from my colleagues in other countries such as China, Fiji, Cambodia and Vietnam to carry out my job well. My colleagues, whether they are from Mongolia or the US or from Thailand or Australia, hold the same high standards to carry out the mission, vision and values of Rustic Pathways and each one of them comes with their unique contributions. They are all very open to share their stories, their invaluable travel experiences and they are the hardcore travelers who have empathy at the core of their soul and who can be there for you 24/7.

I believe in constant learning but also, I believe learning comes naturally as you engage yourself with different norms of diverse cultures around the world with open mind and with respect. It has been the joy of my work to see our students gain not only knowledge of different customs but learn to be more self aware to better themselves to further better our one world and the lives of its people. When some people’s way of living is different than your own, it can be very challenging at times while you are traveling, however, it’s very amazing to see how students, our younger generation are so quick to learn to accept and respect when you have leaders trained to find that sweet spot to orient, prep ahead as much as possible and role modeling it to lead with an example.

As a proud Mongolian, I enjoy helping my fellow Mongolians share their stories, their way of living, and their culture to our neighbors in our globe. On the other hand, as a travel enthusiast, I feel honored to be any help, making sure the trip in Mongolia is a pleasant, authentic, adventurous and unique experience for our students traveling with Rustic. Mongolia is a democratic independent country that borders only two countries, China and Russia, however, we have a good diplomatic relationship with 188 countries and we consider them all our neighbors. With the various landmarks, different ethnic groups of people and long rich history, Mongolia is a must travel to place and with Rustic Pathways Mongolia you will not only get to see or get to know all these but you will also get to immerse yourself in the special cultures of your visiting community of Khalkh, Kazak, Tuva and other Mongolian ethnic groups and you will be part of ongoing sustainable community aid and development projects as the locals have laid out their requests for their needs.

I’m more than grateful for all the possibilities that made traveling around our planet earth so much easier than previous ages to visit one another in order to share humanity and to learn and to be inspired from each other. I hope you keep up your travel and will include Mongolia as your friendly neighbor to visit. See you somewhere under the eternal blue sky we share!
