Since the application must be completed in one sitting, we recommend that students prepare their essays beforehand.

Deadline

Our 2018 Service Scholarship application will open October 17, 2017 at 12:00am PST and close on November 30, 2017 at 11:59pm PST. All applicants who apply before December 1st will be notified about the status of their application by December 15, 2017.

The form will reopen on December 1, 2017 at 12:00am PST and close again on March 19, 2018 at 11:59pm PST. These applicants will be notified by April 13th, 2018.

Estimate Your Financial Contribution

Students and families must be active participants in this process and fundraise throughout the year to meet their estimated financial contribution. To estimate your financial contribution, consider the airfare, visa, spending money, and vaccination costs associated with your selected program country.

  • Eligibility Requirements

    Please review and agree to these requirements to determine if you are eligible for the Rustic Pathways Service Scholarship.
  • The purpose of the Rustic Pathways Service Scholarship is to enable first-time travelers to access our community service programs. Students who have previously traveled with Rustic Pathways are not eligible.
  • You will not qualify for consideration of a scholarship if you have already signed up for a program. We encourage those who have signed up to consult our fundraising guide. Scholarships will not be awarded or transferred to programs for which you are already enrolled.
  • We do not offer financial aid programs for households earning over $95,000 USD. This is considered combined income in the case of separated households. Please consult our fundraising guide for tips and advice on how to travel on a Rustic Pathways program.
  • FAFSA, federal tax forms, or social security benefit documents are required to verify income eligibility. If you are not a U.S. resident, any tax document from your government will be accepted. Tax filings must be from either 2015 or 2016.
