Spend mornings surfing or learning from professional surf instructors, swimming, and enjoying the beach. Head out to the village for community service. Uvita is a small coastal community in Puntarenas known for spectacular beaches and surfing. While tourism and agriculture provide employment for many in this region, some families still struggle to meet basic needs. Rustic Pathways works in partnership with the Uvita Community Development Association on a range of community-identified projects.
Infrastructure: Rustic Pathways started working on 2017 with the Association of Development of Uvita, within a partnership to improve public areas infrastructure, such as the Comunal Salon / Recreative Center for Sports, in where public bathrooms were made as well as a sidewalk for people with disabilities in the area.
All this is part of a Rustic Pathways 3-year service plan that identifies the needs of our partners. The plan proposes projects to address the needs of communities and promote building capacities instead of creating dependency with the partners. The three cornerstones of the service plan in Uvita are the educational infrastructure, sustainable development, and the development of infrastructure initiatives. According to the principles of community service set by Rustic Pathways, all our student groups, including private groups, must become facilitators in the achievement of this goal.
Each day will end with a sunset walk down to the beach. You can also play in a community soccer game, walk along the Whale Tale rock formation, hike in the ocean-side rainforest, go animal spotting with your Rustic Pathways guide or simply soak up the beautiful sunsets.
