Start the morning feeding peacocks and monkeys on one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world, then enjoy a spicy masala chai and breakfast with your homestay family. Connect with your group and head to the local government school for a cultural exchange with Indian students. Leave your cameras behind for this experience and focus on connecting with the students and working on your English, Hindi, and communication skills.
Later, take a photography lesson with your program leaders and visit a nearby cow farm where you will learn about how these animals are raised. Try milking the cow yourself—beware, it’s harder than it looks! Drive to the small village market of Shivganj to photograph a market and purchase traditional Rajasthani goods, including block-printed skirts and textiles, bangles, artisan goods, and dozens of spices.
Head back to your homestay this evening for another delicious, home-cooked meal. Ask your mata ji (homestay mother) if you can help out with the cooking and see if you can master the local recipe of daal bati.
