Focus on surfing and community service projects over the next five days. After breakfast and informal language lessons, head out to the local surf breaks around Momi. Check out Cloudbreak, swimming pools, and a variety of other well-known breaks that Fiji is famed for.
Complete grass-roots projects that benefit the local communities around the country. Visit villages nearby to help with infrastructure, environmental, or social-based service projects. Enjoy adventures and cultural activities—hike sand dunes, kayak through mangroves, swim in the local hot springs, watch a sunset at historical Momi Guns, visit local markets, and learn a traditional Fijian war dance called the meke. Join your group for a post-service debrief in the evening, discussing what you experienced and learned through hands-on work in the community.
At the end of each program, students reflect on their experiences and the issues they engaged with, and talk about how to apply this new understanding to their own worlds. During or after their closing discussion, groups participate in Rustic Ties, a unique and powerful activity that allows students to capture the memories and learning moments of their program to process and share with their communities back home.
