Fisherman, Inle Lake. They're known for their unique rowing style, which calls for them to be standing at the stern with one leg "paddling" as it is wrapped around the oar. #inlelake #myanmar #shanstate #fisherman #rowing #bw #silhoutte #nyaungshwe #sorustic #rusticpathways #SEasia

Some of my most cherished summer moments are those of shared quiet when we break from mixing concrete, exploring temples, eating curries, playing games, and take some time to sit together in silent contemplation of everything that has led us to this shared moment far from our homes. @rusticpathways #latergram #sorustic2015 #sorustic #rusticpathways #rusticlife #LiveLaughExplore #travel #rpcambodia #cambodia #travelcambodia #waterfall #adventure #adventuretravel

Mahatma Ghandi once said: “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Maybe that is why I decided to participate in the Rustic Pathways’ programme. It was pretty challenging to choose my destination, because all of the programs they offered seemed wonderful, but finally I spent a week in Laos enjoying the Lao Elephant Retreat and Luang Prabang and a week in Thailand at the Children’s Home. It was a perfect combination of sightseeing, working with elephants and teaching children. To be honest, I was a bit concerned about meeting new people. English is not my first language and although I feel quite comfortable using it, there is still some kind of language barrier. Apparently none of my doubts turned out to be true. I loved my group and we still keep in touch. I spent hours talking to people with the same dreams, plans and expectations. And I’m thankful for being given such a wonderful opportunity. Now, I have two families waiting for me, one in Poland and the other… somewhere in the world :) #rusticpathways #sorustic2015 #sorustic

Photography allows me to share my own unique vision while capturing a part of myself in others. Sometimes I struggle with the idea of constantly being behind my camera, failing to experience what is right in front of me without being trapped behind another lens. There is a beauty in experiencing the incredible places on this Earth without a camera, but there is also a hidden beauty in being able to capture images for others who are not able to walk in my shoes and to see myself in the faces of those I photograph. I photograph special moments of human interaction, adventure, and culture. All of these things bring me joy. In this image, one of my students is standing under a towering arch of the Ben Youssef Madressa in Marrakech, Morocco. I remember her pausing, gazing up, and slowly turning under the elaborate architecture of what used to be an Islamic college, trying to take it all in, just like I did the first time I was there. #SoRustic2015 #sorustic #rusticpathways #latergram #Morocco

This is Lenny. Lenny can speak French. Lenny came with us every day to a village that isnt his own to help them out. Lenny spent hours shoveling concrete and carrying buckets of it all across Botecito. Lenny got no service hours. Lenny got nothing out of this. Lenny did it out of the goodness of his heart. I love Lenny. Lenny is a cool kid. We should all strive to be a little more Lenny. #sorustic #rusticpathways #sorustic2015

My ambition for discovery (both of myself and the world) manifests itself in the form of a pool. Every time I connect with someone, hold a baby leatherback, pick up a piece of trash off the ground, or defeat a fear, I am sticking a toe in the water, sending out ripples. Rustic helped me jump in. #sorustic2015 #sorustic #rusticpathways @rusticpathways @rusticjasmin

    • Vuvale • Fijian for family. This is my incredible brother Simi and my sister Sena. Living with my new family was unforgettable and showed me that home is a feeling, not a place. The thing I will remember years from now is waking up to Simi's smiling face everyday. He always waited at my bedside for me to wake up so he could play with me. Nothing is better than a loud "bula!" and a big hug when you first wake up. #sorustic #sorustic2015 #latergram #rusticpathways @rusticpathways

"Every one of a hundred thousand cities around the world had its own special sunset, and it was worth going there, just once, if only to see the sun go down." -Ryu Murakami

In watching this sunset, I realized that no matter who you are or where you come from, the beauty of nature offers so much to those who look for it. We get so caught up in our materialistic and social lives that we forget to appreciate the magic that surrounds us every day. Life, like a sunset, is beautiful and fleeting, and if we don't seize every moment, it will be gone before we know it. #sorustic #rusticpathways #latergram #puravida #sorustic2015

After walking up 400 steps, I met a novice monk who brought out the best in me. Even though our lives seemed so different we shared many of the same experiences. I will always remember our conversation and that "each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most." #sorustic #sorustic2015 #rusticpathways @rusticpathways

By choosing Rustic Pathways, I took the road less traveled, and then I paved it. I will always remember my service activities and the great friends I did it with. #sorustic2015
