Happy Friday! We recently had the pleasure of running a program in the Dominican Republic for a group of college students from Rutgers University. Women from the Africana House at Douglass Residential College spent ten days in Monte Coco, one of the batey communities in the Dominican Republic, building a home for a family and teaching local children arts and crafts. It was an intense and rewarding experience, as Vanessa Mattieu explains:
“My parents warned me it would be personal, that it would be uncomfortable. They told me I would come back a whole lot stronger, and they were right.”
Read the full article about their experience here. Thank you to the women of Douglass Residential College from Rutgers University for their service in the Dominican Republic!
